I know no one loves the messenger, but the forums link at the bottom of page links to the Old Forum page (whose link to this Forum is broken), whereas the one on the Home page is correct (http://www.cinug.net/forum/forum.html).
Great meeting yesterday - having Novell speak is always informative and helpful that holding out against homogenous Win2k network is not the way of the future. In terms of where to go with the (L)User Group, my personal opinion would be 4-5:30 meetings would be probably greater attended with employer support of course. I also believe the value of the group exists in the relationships built and communication between those knowledgeable in one subject vs those that are trying to learn. Notice it wasn't mentors and students because everyone, albeit "professionals" or students, has their areas of expertise. Changing the name may be intimidating as well to those students or people less familiar with the trade, and may discourage their coming or input. Creating interest at the vocational schools through hot (or handson) labs or fostering certification study groups should also develop the community atmosphere.
Finally, I would hope that the community atmosphere among regional networking personnel is not a thing of the past. Granted I am relatively recent attendee for the group, but it would be a shame for such a valuable service to be left in the past. (especially in these times of influx of new networking professionals into the community)
