NUI Webcast HUGE Success.....Too Huge
The June 12th NUI webcast that featured Novell's Director of Comparative Analysis, Dave Eckert, presenting his recent BrainShare presentation "NetWare 5.1 vs. Windows 2000" was a huge success. In fact, so many NUI members attempted to log on that the Sun server's memory was overwhelmed and the system had to lock out a number of members. We apologize to those of you that set your schedules for this event and then were denied access. The archived webcast can be accessed through the NUI homepage at http://www.nuinet.com.

NUI Hands On Training (HOT) Lab Hits The Road
Following the great response our hands on training received at BrainShare 2000, we have made arrangements to take the show on the road. Currently, 41 US and Canadian cities will host the tour. Curriculum has been developed for four topics: NetWare 5.1 Upgrade; Troubleshooting TCP/IP; Novell NDS for Linux; and Novell Small Business Suite. Each six-hour lab is an intensive hands-on experience. Labs are not lecture based. For complete details visit http://www.nuihotlabs.org.

Opportunity To Try Out New Cutting-Edge Vocalis Technology
Novell partner Vocalis has a new technology they would like some feedback on. This program is open to the first 300 qualified respondents and will give each participant unlimited usage for thirty days. Respondents will need to answer one survey before and one survey after the test period. If you are interested, email Tim Daines at tdaines@novell.com.

NUI Partners with NetVision to Deliver No Cost 30-Day Trial Copy of NDS Security Software to Its Members
At NUI we are committed to helping you stay abreast of the ever-changing problems, solutions, and technologies that affect your profession. No topic is currently hotter or more relevant in the networking world than SECURITY. We have heard from many members who are especially concerned with the unique security issues associated with NDS. To help address this critical issue we have partnered with NetVision, Inc., which is offering a no cost, fully functional, 30-day trial copy of their industry-leading DirectoryAlert to any NUI member that visits their website at www.netvision.com.

Did you know that, according to the Computer Security Institute in their latest CSI/FBI Computer Crime and Security Survey (http://www.gocsi.com), unauthorized network access by insiders rose for the third straight year and that 55% of respondents reported incidents? This raises serious questions for networking professionals such as, "Can you be alerted to malicious attacks on NDS user/group/container and other objects?" and, "Is it possible to know, in real-time, who changed an NDS object, when it was changed and what, exactly, changed?"

NetVision's DirectoryAlert is the only real-time product that monitors each and every NDS object for changes, thereby helping alert when suspicious and malicious activity is occurring. For example, a high-level user object like ADMIN can be monitored in real time to see when a change is made to any ADMIN object attributes. Not only that, but DirectoryAlert reports on who the perpetrator was, when a change occurred and what changed. Whenever any object is created, deleted, moved or modified DirectoryAlert can alert by email or pager and report into any ODBC, CSV, LDIF, TXT or XML database. Visit NetVision at www.netvision.com to obtain a fully functional trial copy of DirectoryAlert now.

**Remember to share the wealth with your fellow members by sending us your favorite technical resource links. You could win a Novell Self Study Kit for your efforts!
